A highly sustainable feed for the future
When raw material prices are volatile, the ability to draw from as large a ‘basket’ as possible is an advantage and will
produce additional feed price stability. Eterna uses the widest possible basket of raw materials including land animal
proteins and vegetable oils – all fully legal for fish feed use. This allows the feed to reduce dependence upon marine
ingredients without compromising performance.
The formulation has also been carefully assembled in order to reduce the production of solid wastes to the minimum
compatible with the energy content of this feed. Hence, special attention has been paid to the types and levels of
vegetable proteins used which have been referenced to Skretting ARC’s huge database of feed ingredients.
Skretting’s MicroBalance concept has been fully implemented in Eterna. There are many micro-nutrients which have a
profound influence on fish nutrition and performance via their effects on digestive and general physiology.
MicroBalance focuses on the right micro-nutrients to use and their optimum levels in feed which allows much more
flexibility in raw material use. MicroBalance allows us to formulate with lower levels of fishmeal without compromising
fish performance.
Floating protein concept
All Skretting feeds are now formulated to fixed minimum digestible protein and minimum digestible amino acid limits.
Crude protein levels in the feeds are derived as secondary outputs from our feed formulation system which means that
declared crude protein levels on feed labels may therefore vary or ‘float’ within narrow limits. Please note that it is the
declared nutrient levels which appear on the bag labels against which any measured nutrient value should be judged.
